Welcome to Sigma BioBlogs.
Bio begins with every one of us, and with each biologist who is out there working today.
Our goal in blogging is to get Bioinformation out to biologists quickly and easily, whether it’s news about our products or the latest work of your fellow biologists.
To achieve this goal, we plan to blog on the following subjects: Scientist biographies – how their bio journey began and what they are doing today as a result. We’ll also be blogging on how to get the most from our products with expertise provided by our Technical Service team. Plus we’ll be keeping you up to date with the latest application information with tips and tricks from our experts and we’ll keep our spotlight firmly focused on the latest technology.
Of course, there may be other topics that you would like to see discussed and debated here, so if you have any suggestions or questions please feel free to get in touch with us via yfgsuggestions@sial.com

Sherman Ku- PhD: Working with Friedreich’s Ataxia and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC)
What is the focus of your research? My research has focused on developing an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) model of Friedreich’s ataxia (FRDA), which is an inherited neurodegenerative trinucleotide repeat expansion disorder, discovering the iPS cells themselves could be used to model repeat instability seen in brain and heart tissue in patient families. Triplet [...]
