We finally go the ok to change out our fume hood to a cell culture hood an dI had no idea what I was in for. The black plastic was awesome, but it was particulary exciting when they began to weld right next to that giant yellow Flammable cabinet. Luckily nothing happened, but I was prepared to leave for the day!
Biology begin much before I knew it. The real biology began much before I had any idea of science. I was a school boy and always used to see my father injected before he had his meal. I always asked my mother why he goes under such pain just before the meal cant it be done after the meal. My mother who never studied science replied me that I actually do not know but it is adviced by the doctor. Today when I’m doing my Phd and working on diabetes-2 I finally came to know why my dad used to have the injection just before the meal.I would like to unravel the molecular mechanism of diabetes-2 and would also try to find the therapeutics for the same.
Where did my study of life begin? My bio began with an intense curiosity about nature, as I explored mountainsides while growing up in Haiti, when I caught lizards and tarantulas, and when I saw the effects of disease on my dad's patients. My exploration continued in secondary school, from modeling a cell's organelles with styrofoam, dissecting a frog, and writing essays on phosphorylation, through memorizing cranial nerves, organic reactions, and learning to extract DNA in college. It has taken me to shadow doctors and to now perform research in biomedical engineering. I took this picture beneath the cross near Duquesne University's chapel, where the intersection of science and faith intrigues me. I am learning through the Biotechnology M.S. program there to integrate science with business. These are what I think are the “bio” essentials in our fast-changing, wonderfully intricate world.

In every instance, Histotechnology professionals are dedicated to the eradication or prevention of disease and to improving the quality of life for all. Their vital work is often unknown to the general public yet their work touches our lives in profound ways. For the hundreds of poor diagnoses, there is always a ray of light. This is where my bio began.
Isn't it amazing yet disturbing that the very things that make human life and existence possible- the cell- in its infinite wonder and cooperation to form all of the bodies systems, can also be responsible for our own untimely demise when they stop cooperating and listening to one another and become cancerous. My bio began while watching teenage mutant ninja turtles on TV as a child and hearing of the death of a family member due to cancer…which at the time I had no idea what it was…but decided then and there that I was going to do something to help get rid of it…
As far as I can remember, I always wanted to be a scientist. Or probably even earlier than that...
